The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has officially announced the 70th Combined Competitive Examination 2024. Registrations for the exam will commence on September 28, 2024, and the last date to apply is October 18, 2024. The examination aims to fill 1,957 vacancies across various government departments in Bihar.
Educational Qualifications:
70th Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination:
- Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university.
Child Development Project Officer:
- A bachelor’s degree is required, and candidates must choose one optional subject for the main exam from the following:
- Home Science
- Psychology
- Sociology
- Labor and Social Welfare

Reservation Policy:
- Reservation benefits will be provided based on Bihar’s existing rules and certificates from the competent authorities.
- Only permanent residents of Bihar are eligible for caste-based reservations. Non-residents will not qualify for these benefits.
- A Permanent Residential Certificate is mandatory to claim domicile.
- SC/ST candidates must provide Caste Certificates and Permanent/Domicile Certificates.
- Candidates from Backward and Extremely Backward Classes must provide a Non-Creamy Layer Certificate.
- Married women claiming reservation must submit caste certificates in their father’s name.
- EWS candidates are required to submit income and asset certificates as per government norms.
Age Limit (as of 01.08.2024):
- Minimum age: 20, 21, or 22 years, depending on the post.
- Maximum age for unreserved (male) candidates: 37 years.
- Maximum age for unreserved (female), backward, and extremely backward classes: 40 years.
- Maximum age for SC/ST candidates: 42 years.
- Bihar government employees can attempt the exam up to 5 times and receive an age relaxation of 5 years.
- Candidates with disabilities are granted an additional 10 years of age relaxation.
Preliminary Exam Structure:
The preliminary examination will be an objective-type paper on General Studies, carrying a total of 150 marks. The exam duration is 2 hours. Topics covered include:
- General Science
- National and International Current Events
- History of India and Bihar
- Geography
- Political and Economic Systems of India
- Bihar’s Economy
- India’s National Movement and Bihar’s Contribution
Minimum Qualifying Marks required to advance to the main examination:
- General: 40%
- Backward Class: 36.5%
- Extremely Backward Class: 34%
- SC/ST, Women, Disabled: 32%
Personality Test:
Candidates who qualify in the main examination will undergo a personality test worth 120 marks. Participation is mandatory, and candidates who do not attend the test will be disqualified from the final merit list.

- General/OBC/Other state candidates: ₹600
- SC/ST/PH candidates: ₹150
- Female candidates (Bihar domicile): ₹150
